Brand Source/HES Summit: CE Dealers Still Skeptical of 3DTV
Many dealers and custom integrators are still skeptical about the early success and viability of 3DTV, saying non-compatible 3D glasses and lack of content will hinder sales.
"It still comes down to whether the glasses will work with different TVs," Kevin Hollister of Bjorn's Audio in San Antonio, Texas, said at this week's Brand Source and Home Entertainment Source Spring Summit in Dallas. "Customers are going to be asking, if they go to their neighbors to watch the big event, will their glasses work with the neighbor's set. That's still a problem. All the glasses should be the same."
Like many others, custom installer Ken Bourgeois of AV Fusion in Memphis, said he'll probably wait until next year before making a serious effort to sell 3DTVs to his loyal clientele.
