3G iPhone Sold Out in 21 States
Apple may have sold over a million copies of the 3G iPhone in its opening weekend, but that doesn’t mean all of its customers are happy. According to Fortune magazine’s Apple 2.0 blog, the device had been sold out, as of Tuesday morning, in 21 of the 50 U.S. states.
This was based on the research of retired PR executive Jim Neal, who checked every location in the country through Apple’s Availability Widget. Neal also found that 117 of the nation’s 188 Apple Retail Stores had sold out of their stock, and that only 27 stores had all three models in stock.
An AT&T spokesman also told Fortune that its retail stores were “virtually sold out” on the first day of sales.
