40 Under 40 2013 Profiles: Foster, Goldman, Griffin, Griswold, Gutin, Hawkins, Hegt, Jain
Jonathan S. Goldman, 20, President, Quantum Networks, N.Y, N.Y.
Background: Goldman grew up in Little Neck, N.Y., and now lives in Forest Hills, Queens, N.Y.
Higher education: Baruch College, N.Y, N.Y.
Career: Goldman has worked in the industry for four years. As co-founder of Quantum, he is involved in all facets of operations, including the sourcing of new products, managing the business development, sales and distribution teams, and maintaining relationships.
Industry accomplishments: “We founded Quantum at the height of the recession in 2008. At the time, I was only 16 years old and still in high school. Despite these challenges, Quantum has doubled revenue year after year. I am proud to say that we are on track to finish our fifth year at $25 million.” Goldman has played a direct role in the company’s growth rate, from $300,000 in 2009 to $3 million in 2010, $6 million in 2011, and $12 million in 2012.
Awards: In 2012, Inc. magazine placed Quantum in its Top 500 category as the 56th fastest-growing company in the U.S. Inc. placed Quantum No. 1 in Telecommunications, and No. 5 in the New York City Area. In 2012, Quantum was named to the Technology 200 at No. 49.
What you like best about your job: “We have an incredibly bright, young team who consistently push boundaries and think outside of the box. Each employee has a refreshing entrepreneurial spirit and is empowered with a sense of ownership and limitless potential for growth. The entire Quantum staff shares one large bullpen area. No one has his or her own office. We value teamwork and believe that if you isolate yourself in an office, you can’t be as effective of a leader.”
I also love getting to know our vendors from across the country. I enjoy building relationships with them so that they, too, become a part of the Quantum family.”
What you like least: “We started Quantum when I had just turned 16 and as I nurtured the company, I missed out on many opportunities, like going away for college.”

If you could be anyplace else right now, it would be: I am genuinely happy with what I am doing, and the enormous growth we are seeing. I would love to be able to take some time off and visit family in Israel. Success needs family to ground it.
