4Dpresence Unveils Live Holographic Event Platform
Combining augmented and virtual reality, 4Dpresence—a new media company—has launched a new holographic communication platform that will allow for live online concerts, town halls, and major media events, among many other possibilities. The company explained that the platform will enable CEOs, celebrities, politicians, and speakers to appear live on stage as a hologram and also interact with people from their home on stage as holograms.
Sounds amazing and futuristic, but how does it work? We’ve seen the holographic projections of Tupac and Michael Jackson, but those were pre-programmed and definitely not live, considering that both were displayed at major events after the musical talents’ lives had ended.
According to 4Dpresence, the in-venue experience will work through augmented reality holography beams, which will project the subject on stage in front of a live audience. At the same time, they’ll be beamed into a virtual reality stage where they can share that stage with people from anywhere in the world. Simply-ish put, these are live HD video images of people appearing on both real-world stages as well as photorealistic virtual stages.
