Ventura TV To Launch Own TV Station and New Site
For 60 years, Ventura TV Video Appliance Center in Fresno, Calif., has been switching it up. Operating out of its original 10,000 square-foot location and a 15,000 square-foot warehouse/distribution center, the dealer is placing renewed emphasis on consumer electronics.
In addition, the dealer this spring is launching a new website site and a major marketing initiative: leasing a local digital TV sub-channel to carry Ventura TV advertising and self-produced programming to Fresno viewers.
In 1951, Edward Shirin founded a TV and appliance dealership on Ventura Avenue, hence the name. The dealer grew as a competitive, low-overhead operation, succeeding against the department and furniture stores that dominated radio, TV and appliance retailing at the time. Edward's son, Mark, began working in the business during high school in 1980 and is now the president of the company.
