70 Percent DTV Penetration Expected by Year’s End
The number of U.S. households who own a digital television will reach 70 percent by the end of 2008, on sales of 31 million sets this year. That’s according to Consumer Electronics Association statistics cited by TV Week.
The industry group added that total sales of DTVs will likely reach 116 million by year’s end, while nearly 75 percent of consumers are aware of next February’s analog signal shutoff.
“The marketplace is working. The transition is working,” CEA president and CEO Gary Shapiro said in a statement issued by CEA. “Our industry and government partnerships on consumer education are successful.”
