Kindle Ad Hits iPad
Amazon's Kindle may have been a competitor to Apple's iPad in the ereader market ever since the latter was introduced earlier this year, but neither had ever taken direct aim at the other in an advertisement- until this week.
A new 30-second spot for the Kindle hits the iPad both on its high price point and the difficulty of reading it in the sun. In the ad, a t-shirt-clad male and bikini-clad female are sitting in adjacent chairs poolside, the man using an iPad-like device while the woman reads a Kindle.
"Excuse me," the man asks, "how are you reading that, in this light?" The woman replies, "it's a Kindle- $139!," before commenting that her sunglasses cost more than the ereader did.
