Report: Belkin Paid For Positive Reviews
An executive with Belkin has been caught offering to pay Web users to write positive reviews of the company's products on Amazon.com and other Web sites- going so far as to place an ad for users to do so on the Web Site MTurk.com.
According to the Web site The Daily Background Michael Bayard, a business development executive at the company, placed the ad on the site, offering to pay users to write five-star reviews of products, even if they haven't actually used them. Users were also asked to mark "unhelpful" any negative reviews listed of the products.
In a statement, Belkin's president, Mark Reynoso, called the episode "an isolated incident," and said it had pulled the offending Web postings.
