A Best Buy clerk in Minnesota has been arrested and charged with executing a scheme in which he stole more than $10,000 in items through fraudulent gift cards.
According to local TV station KSTP, the 25-year-old clerk, who had discovered he was being let go from the company, would help customers with purchases but then copy the receipt and file fraudulent returns. He then put that amount on gift cards and used the proceeds to purchase the items. Police say the employee had been receiving "three to four packages a day" of electronics at his home.
He was apprehended through store surveillance video.
