Zune Outages Reported Worldwide
Call it the Y2K Problem in reverse: no one saw it coming, and it actually did cause problems.
Outages of Microsoft's Zune device were reported all over the world on Wednesday, the Associated Press reported, due to a bug related to leap year, and Dec. 31 being the 366th day of the year, causing a breakdown in the players' internal clock. Zunes in the 30GB denomination were affected most, the company said.
Microsoft also announced that the players should have returned to normal by Jan. 1, provided they have been powered down before being charged and restarted.
