Jerry Throgmartin, Chairman and CEO, hhgregg
This is how hhgregg survives in this market. Because without highly-trained, motivated sales, support and installation people, customers are the ones that suffer and that scenario is unacceptable for Throgmartin.
“Our initiatives begin around how we improve the customer experience. That keeps us viable to the consumer. Obviously we’ve been big in delivery and installation for a very long time. Those are not new things to us. We look at that and say can we do it better and faster and more effective than we are doing it today, to minimize the burden on the customer.”
So, with 85 stores and counting, how does he make sure he’s on the right track? “My grandfather had an easy philosophy and it was to treat people the way you want to be treated,” he said. “Sometimes you may disagree over what fair is but as long as that’s your goal you’ll end up close.”
