Microsoft, Verizon Eyeing iPhone Rival
A day after Verizon was reported to be negotiating with Apple about carrying either the iPhone or an iPhone-like rival, the telecom giant is said to be talking with an Apple rival about a phone of their own.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Microsoft has had talks with Apple about a new touchscreen phone that Verizon would carry. The phone, nicknamed "Pink," would be Microsoft's first-ever mobile phone, and would debut in early 2010. It would include an iPhone-like touch screen, Windows Mobile software and access to the company's Windows Marketplace for Mobile.
A third-party company would actually make the phone, the Journal said.
