Two out of five households won't ever own a DVD player.
Everyone today is talking about the DVD craze sweeping the nation. Yet stats like this make us stop and think about where products are in their lifecycles, and the type of customer interested in buying at any given time. Given the hype, it's easy to think that everyone owns a DVD player by now, but there are still those for whom the trusty old VHS is just fine. Only time and the right mix of price, brand stability, recommendations from friends and family and the feeling of being left behind will make those consumers shift. Hence 53 percent of consumers said the same about HDTV. Marketing staffs still have their work cut out for them.
Consumers expect to purchase a new PC every six years.
