Consumer technology retailers “should be worried,” Baker said. But he also noted that next year he expects more cooperation between retailers and manufacturers to try to create better in-store experiences for the customers.
“This will mean the retailers have to give something up over how much control they have over the selling floor,” he said. “I’m not saying that in 2008 everybody is going to open a store, but when we look at 2007, it really accelerated the retailers’ and manufacturers’ thinking about how we cooperate and compete in these kinds of markets. “
