A Q&A With Sharp
During the course of Sharp’s June 5th press meeting, Bob Scaglione and Tony Favia fielded questions from editors on Sharp business and product strategy. Below are selections of some of those questions and Sharp’s answers. Both questions and answers have been paraphrased.
What kind of changes did the new company president bring to Sharp’s TVs?
Sharp: Design mostly. The original designs were far more conservative than what we’d originally come up with. The Mona Lisa smile design came out of that. Retailers told us that they were not happy with the standard rectangle. So we came up with a couple of alternative designs and the Mono Lisa smile was one of them. We also talked about audio and some of the feature packs. Those were the types of things that he changed.
