A Solid Lineup for the 2019 IFA Global Press Conference
We’re back at it traveling internationally to cover the wide sweeping world of consumer electronics. As we were last April, we’re back in Europe for the annual IFA Global Press Conference. This mid-spring affair offers a select few exhibitors showcase some of the products that they’ll bring with them to the full trade show later this year in Berlin. Unlike the big show, which returns every year to the Messe Berlin campus in Germany, GPC bounces around Europe. This year, IFA has pulled together some 300 members of the international tech press (that hail from 55 different countries) in the south of Spain for the event.
The draw for an event like this, aside from the work-cation atmosphere, is the fact that it truly is an intimate setting where press can get exceptional access to not only the brands exhibiting here, but also the IFA executives themselves. It provides an entirely different perspective on the show and the people behind it. Sure, IFA will hold its regular press conference during the event where they’ll dive into some stats and trends around the consumer tech and home appliances spaces, and they’ll give some updates on their other global events—but it’s the in between times, running into them during the evening events, and engaging with them on a personal level that most press will find more valuable.
As for the conference program itself, it’s packed this year with more than 500 minutes of industry presentations and participation from 15 different vendors. Most of the vendors will have their products out in the halls of the host hotel for product showcases. And some will also take the opportunity to hold a 20-minute Power Briefing session with the gathered media.
