Rock Fans Less Than Enamored With Satellite Radio
Efforts by the two American satellite radio companies to woo rock fans have apparently fallen on deaf ears, according to a recent survey.
Jacobs Media, a consulting firm whose clients include many terrestrial broadcasters such as Infinity, Entercom, Emmis, ABC, Cox and Citadel, found that rock music fans, despite being a major target of marketing efforts, have not switched over to satellite radio in any appreciable numbers in the past year. About 12 percent of rock fans reported subscribing to XM, Sirius, or both- a number virtually identical to that of a year ago.
The survey indicates that most rock fans who were interested in satellite radio have likely subscribed already.
