In addition to astronomical sales of the new iPhones that arrived earlier this month, sales of accessories for the devices broke records, too. That's according to data released Friday by the NPD Group.
NPD found that Apple partners sold $249 million in authorized accessories for the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus in the two weeks after their launch, representing a big jump from the $195 million in the two weeks following the release of the previous year's models.
One reason for the jump? Both new iPhones have a brand new form factor, while last year's 5S didn't necessitate a new case for those upgrading from the iPhone 5. But while cases jumped 63 percent year-over-year in units, revenue for screen protector products jumped 120 percent.
