Change is Constant for Accessories
If there is one lesson the CE industry can learn from the accessories market, it’s how to anticipate and adapt. When your bottom line depends on delivering the right accessories to accompany the hot new products in a rapidly changing marketplace, those lessons are quickly learned.
Most recently the accessories industry responded to the iPhone’s introduction with a fervor that only the most highly anticipated devices can inspire. As Apple worked behind the scenes, accessories manufacturers turned their product teams into rapid-response units, preparing them to jump into action and churn out customized accessories on launch day. Primed for continuous innovation by an industry that never slows, consumers are not only expecting more from their multifunction devices, they’re also seeking accessories that take personalization, portability and audio quality to the next level.
Given that Apple designed the iPhone with a new earphone jack configuration, it was amazing to watch accessories manufacturers turn on a dime to deliver the first iPhone accessories without the benefit of actually testing their products with the device. Because of the quick response by audio accessory manufacturers, consumers could quickly personalize their iPhones with earphones and speakers that deliver the unique sound they desire and portray the same image of luxury and quality that the iPhone inspires.
