People always ask me why I love accessories so much. Because they sell - and, the margins, of course! But beyond the business benefits, accessories are the special sauce that transforms ordinary hardware into technology that makes life better for consumers.
Accessories have had a prominent role in consumer technology for decades. This was certainly evident at CES 2017 - the world’s gathering place for all who thrive on the business of consumer technologies. A difference this year, though, was much of the buzz during the show revolved around software - that is, voice-activated digital assistants.
Products that integrate Amazon’s Alexa, Google Home and other voice activation platforms were featured in more than 180 exhibits, showing up in devices from appliances and light bulbs to door locks and even cars.
