Aereo Loses Court Ruling; Western Expansion Halted
Aereo's long winning streak in its court battle with TV broadcasters came to a halt Wednesday, when a judge ruled for the broadcasters, issuing an injunction blocking further expansion in a collection of six Western states.
According to The Wrap, the judge in the 10th Circuit of the U.S. Court of Appeals ruled that Aereo, for now, cannot offer its service in Utah, New Mexico, Colorado, Oklahoma, Wyoming or Montana. The company had planned to begin offering service in two cities in the region, Denver and Salt Lake City.
The ruling halts any expansion in that area until the U.S. Supreme Court rules on the matter, later this year. Arguments before the Court are on the docket for April 22.
