AHAM Touts Energy Savings
The Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers (AHAM) released data Wednesday showing that energy consumption from appliances has dropped dramatically in the last eight years.
According to the group, dishwashers, clothes washers and refrigerators have combined for a 43 percent decrease in energy consumption since 2000, thanks to innovations in appliance technology in recent years.
“Appliance manufacturers have shown a commitment to efficiency that goes well beyond adherence to federal efficiency standards,” AHAM’s president, Joseph M. McGuire, said as part of the announcement. “Through additional investments in technology and consumer awareness, partnering with retailers, and promoting Energy Star, our industry has led the way in taking residential energy efficiency to the next level.”
