Airtame Launches Second-Gen Wireless HDMI Solution
Danish startup Airtame, makers of a wireless HDMI solution for the business and education sectors, has announced the launch of its second generation hardware product: Airtame 2. The $399 product features four-times the amount of RAM, a 200 percent increase in wireless reach, a new LED indicator, and a Kensington Lock slot for added security.
“Our objective with Airtame was initially ‘just’ to get rid of cables—a relatable and common issue in many organizations,” Brian Kyed, CPO and Co-Founder at Airtame, said in a statement. “We realized since that there’s much more to the issue. After years of product development and user feedback, we’re proud to deliver Airtame 2, which not only removes cables but helps you use screens better.”
The company launched in 2014 with a “record-breaking” crowdfunding campaign that raised more than $1.26 million for that first wireless HDMI solution. The solution still addresses the issue of cable clutter, but the company said it will expand the feature set by tapping into digital signage and app integrations. Essentially, the original device was a screen mirroring solution, whereas the new product will focus more on making those blank screens more of an interactive display.
“Airtame 2 will empower people in professional settings to use screens and projectors to their full potential—and unlock better collaboration,” Kyed said. “After years of product development and user feedback, we’re proud to deliver Airtame 2, which is not only extremely easy to use but will also improve any forward-thinking workspace.”
The company said that it has seen its revenue double two years in a row as shipments have reached 100,000. They were also recently awarded a €1.15 million EU grant through Horizon 2020.
