Alexa-Powered Amazon Experience Centers Introduced
In a move that perhaps resembles a subtle bow to the power of showrooming, Amazon announced that it will open a number of interactive Amazon Experience Centers throughout the country. Designed to give visitors a taste of a real smart home environment that is powered by Alexa, the model homes have been built in conjunction with Miami-based home construction and real estate company Lennar.
Throughout these experience centers, consumers will be able to execute basic commands of an Alexa-driven smart home experience—things like controlling the television, lights, thermostat, shades, and more. According to Amazon, the homes will showcase how the customer can put Alexa and other Amazon services to work (like Prime and Home Services) to improve their everyday lives. The homes will be outfitted with an entire suite of Amazon products include Dash Buttons, Fire TVs, Echo speakers, and more.
"We wanted customers to experience a real home environment that showcases the convenience of the Alexa smart home experience, great entertainment available with Prime, and Home Services," Nish Lathia, general manager of Amazon Services, said in a statement. "We are excited to extend our relationship with Lennar with the launch of Amazon Experience Centers. As one of the nation's largest homebuilders, Lennar offers the potential to enable this experience within easy driving distance of millions of customers."
