ALK Technologies at the 3GSM World Congress wireless conference in Barcelona yesterday unveiled its Version 7 CoPilot satellite navigation line for mobile phones and PDAs, with support for Windows Mobile 5 and 6 devices. ALK, Princeton, N.J., said the new line includes simple and intuitive menus, clearer 2D/3D map views and a variety of mobile data services. Version 7 also has a fully customizable user interface, which allows mobile operators, handset manufacturers and end-users to adjust colors, styles and features.
ALK said it designed CoPilot Live 7 to make navigation on a phone as easy to use as a personal navigation device. The system features redesigned step-by-step address entry, finger-touch buttons, predictive address matching, on-screen set-up wizards and large-buttoned menus.
The system’s redesigned text-to-speech voice commands repeat detailed instructions in 13 languages, the company said. Version 7 also provides detailed updates and enhancements for over 600 counties across North America and over 100,000 miles of new road.
