She admits, "Eroding prices are a factor, especially when you've got to put so much emphasis in the store. There's huge overhead, and yet there are people who like to work with no margin. You think, 'Wow. How can they do that?' It's just up to us to instill into the customer that price isn't everything, that they're comfortable with after-the-sale service."
Casey adds, "We don't have the mindshare or yell that we once had. The mass merchants have more mindshare."
He says a big problem for independents is the products they've come to rely on are appearing on the shelves at the local Best Buy.
