Allstate Company, SquareTrade Acquires iCracked
SquareTrade announced its acquisition of iCracked, the largest provider of on-site and on demand smartphone and tablet repair services. With iCracked on its team, SquareTrade can now offer more options to customers in need of repairs.
iCracked currently operates in more than 60 metropolitan areas in the U.S. and Canada with a team of 1,500 certified technicians. Most notably, iCracked offers device repairs at the customer’s utmost convenience be that at home, in the office, or even a local coffee shop.
“We are excited to join SquareTrade, a company that shares our commitment to delivering high-quality on-demand service to customers,” said A.J. Forsythe, iCracked CEO.
Founded by Ahmed Khaishgi and Steve Abernethy in 1999, Squaretrade’s main focus has always been about transparency, which was a driving force behind their Breakability Tests. These videos uncover what happens to a particular device when it is dropped, and how difficult it will be to repair.
In a Dealerscope Podcast we produced last month, Khaishgi said that SquareTrade's goal is to “position protection as a core component of how you buy an electronic.” He also made a comparison to crash and safety tests that new cars go through, and how smartphones and tablets should be subject to the same.
