Alpine Rolls Out Dealer Training Seminar Series 2010
Alpine rolled into the New York area with its dealer training seminars last Thursday. The tour, lead by Steve Brown, Alpine’s application research and design engineer, and product promotion specialist, has been zig-zagging its way across the nation. Installation and technical training sessions were given for Alpine amplifiers, all-in-one head units, and subwoofers.
Alpine also focused some of the training on a Pandora Internet radio-ready head unit, which it thinks will be the next big thing for mobile entertainment. The unit has a premium price point, which the dealer can justify to the customer by pointing out that by spending a little more on the radio they can receive free digital music.
Many manufacturers have added a USB gateway to their head units for accessing digital music, but most of those units don’t allow users to control Pandora control directly from the faceplate. The Pandora app has recently caught fire, attracting more than 20,000 new users per day. Through the Alpine unit, users can bookmark new songs discovered through Pandora and then buy them through iTunes.
