Amazon announced that it is expanding the integration between its Alexa voice assistant service and Fire TV products. According to a statement emailed to Dealerscope, Amazon will enable users to pair a Fire TV with any echo device for "far-field voice control," making it easier for consumers to control movies, TV shows, and more using their voice. In addition, consumers will soon be able to view live video feeds from supported smart home cameras right from their Fire TV.
Far-field controls are available today for U.S. consumers who Fire TV Edition smart TVs, and will roll out to all other generations of Fire TVs and Fire TV Sticks by the end of the week.
“Alexa is built in the cloud and always getting smarter, and these new Fire TV features are the latest way that Alexa is making it simple for you to enjoy and control your living room entertainment,” Marc Whitten, Vice President, Amazon Fire TV, said in the statement. “Simply ask Alexa to play your favorite show, or keep an eye on your kids’ playroom during movie night, right from the comfort of your couch. This is just the beginning and we’ll continue to create new ways to simplify the way you interact with your TV—we can’t wait to see what customers think.”
