Amazon Has Reportedly Sold 240,000 Kindles
Amazon has shipped 240,000 units of the Kindle book-reading device since it was introduced in November, Web site Techcrunch.com reported Friday, citing Amazon sources.
The company has not gone public with any sales estimates for the device, which has occasionally been in short supply since its introduction. Techcrunch estimated that between sales of the devices and of downloadable books, Amazon has cleared more than $100 million in revenue from the Kindle.
Amazon has been reported to be working on a new version of the device.
