According to an exclusive invite that went out on Friday afternoon, we’re only a little over a week away from some new Amazon products. The company promises to “share some new things from the Amazon Devices and Services team” during a Sept. 25 hardware event in Seattle.
Although little details have emerged about what Amazon might have up its sleeve, there are at least a few things we can safely rule out. During IFA 2019, Amazon announced a new Fire TV Cube as well as a new lineup of Fire TVs. However, Fire TV tablets are very possible as well as some refreshed Echo speakers. And that might not even be all.
Looking at last year’s event, Amazon introduced nearly a dozen new products including refreshed Echo devices, the Echo Auto, Echo Input, Echo Sub, Echo Link, and Echo Link Amp, the Fire TV Recast, and Alexa-powered microwaves and wall clocks. While the event might not produce as many products as last year, it’s likely we’ll see some new Alexa-powered gear and a few upgrades to old hardware.
If it’s any indication, Amazon has been discounting many of its products ahead of the Sept. 25 event. Right now Prime members can take advantage of a $40 discount on the Kindle Paperwhite and $25 off the base Kindle. Amazon also slashed $40 off the Fire 7 Kids Edition tablet and the Fire HD 8.
Unlike the Apple event, leaks have been harder to come by for the Amazon hardware event so it’s possible we could see some entirely new products from the e-commerce giant.
