Amazon Recalls Basics-Branded External Batteries that Were Melting
See, it’s not all sunshine and dandelions in the world of Jeff Bezos! Even the largest online retailer, which operates in more industries than we believe even exist, can experience a fumbled snap or two.
In this instance, Amazon announced on Wednesday a recall of 260,000 AmazonBasics-branded power bank devices. The recall comes after 53 reported cases of the devices overheating, melting, and causing chemical burns.
Limited information is available on the company’s website and no apparent press releases have been issued to publicly address the recall. But Amazon has reportedly sent emails to customers who purchased one of the six models, which were sold between December 2014 and July 2017. That email explains how customers can get their refund and points them in the direction of a recall page that the company has set up.
