Amazon Unveils Kindle DX
Amazon Wednesday introduced its third Kindle book-reading device, one with a screen 2.5 times the screen of the original, which comes with the support of major media organizations, textbook publishers and universities. The 9.7-inch device will ship this summer, and is targeted for both student and professional use, as well as book readers.
The device will cost $489 per unit, and was introduced at a press event at Pace University in New York.
Cengage Learning, Pearson, and Wiley, three of the largest textbook publishers, will have Kindle versions of their books available this summer, in time for college students next fall to purchase the device. The DX will also have easy access to PDF documents, for the business customer.
