Details Emerge About New Kindle
Amazon is currently developing a new version of the Kindle book-reading device, and sees this as an opportunity to gear the e-book reader towards college students, McAdams Wright Ragen analyst Tim Bueneman told the Seattle Post-Intelligencer for an online story published late last week.
“There are already several new, improved versions of the Kindle in the works,” Bueneman told the paper. “But Amazon has no plans, however, for an MP3 music audio version. We guess the new version will have improved interface operating controls. This has been an issue with some buyers.”
BusinessWeek.com’s tech blogger, Peter Burrows, confirmed several details of the newspaper’s report. He also reported, based on sources familiar with the design, that the new version of the e-book reader is thinner, has a significantly larger screen and includes fixes to some of the user interface nuisances from its predecessor.
