Amazon’s Bezos Vows Remedy For Kindle Shortage
The founder and CEO of Amazon.com last week vowed a swift end to the shortages that have plagued the Kindle book-reading device ever since it was introduced late last year.
In a four-paragraph open letter published on Amazon’s home page, Jeff Bezos wrote that the company has been “scrambling to increase our manufacturing capacity ever since” the device sold out within hours of its release. Bezos also hinted that the company will be back in stock within weeks, which will enable the company to offer same-day shipping of the Kindle. Until then, he wrote, the orders will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis.
