An internal Best Buy memo about this fall's release of the Microsoft Windows 7 operating system leaked to the Internet Friday, revealing new details about both Windows 7 and the retail giant's plans for marketing it.
The memo was obtained and published by Engadget.
Titled "Best Buy's Plan for the Windows 7 Launch," the memo revealed that between June 26 and the software's launch date- reported as Oct. 22- Best Buy will provide a "Technology Guarantee," offering a free upgrade to Windows 7 for everyone purchasing a Vista PC. The company also revealed plans for a pre-sale on BestBuy.com of Windows 7 upgrades, which will be available between June 26 and July 11.
