What They’re Thinking: CES Founder Jack Wayman
Jack Wayman, 85, founder of CES, on the history of consumer electronics, life and other things
I was an only child. Miami in the 1920s was a nice place to grow up in if you could get over the mosquitoes and the scorpions. Grew up in a very close family, lots of aunts and uncles. At the time there were only 100,000 people in the entire state, so you had to be real pioneers to be down in Miami.
We lived on an island between Miami and Miami Beach. My father was very disciplined, very religious. A Methodist. Couldn’t read the funny paper on a Sunday.
