“Chatter” Says XM/Sirius Decision is Near
The long-delayed decision by the Department of Justice on whether to approve the merger between XM and Sirius Satellite Radio may be near, according to “chatter” reported on by a Wall Street analyst, Barrons reported last week on its Tech Trader Daily Web site.
Barrons reported that Stifel Nicolaus analyst Blair Levin wrote late last week that “chatter” on Wall Street is pointing to a ruling this week from the DOJ’s Antitrust Division. The chatter did not indicate whether the deal will be approved or rejected, although Levin believes the merger ultimately will be approved.
If the DOJ approves the deal, its final remaining hurdle would be the Federal Communications Committee.
