Android Extends Smartphone Lead
Google's Android platform is now on 38.1 percent of U.S. smartphones, up from 33 percent in February, with Apple second and Research in Motion third, according to numbers released Tuesday by research firm Comscore.
According to the comScore MobiLens service survey, for May, Apple's market share rose 1.4 percent while RIM's fell 4.2 percent. Microsoft and Palm remained in single digits.
On the manufacturing side, Samsung remained the top overall manufacturer of mobile phones with a flat market share of 24.8 percent, followed by LG with 21.1 and Motorola with 15.1.
