Android Leads Apple in Smartphone Market Share, 51-31
Google and Apple have continued their dominance of the smartphone market, with Google's Android taking up over 50 percent and Apple taking over 30. That's according to data released Tuesday by Comscore.
Google, as of the end of March, had 51 percent of the market, with Apple grabbing 30.7; those numbers were 47.3 and 29.6 percent, respectively, in December. Research in Motion took a distant third with 12.3 percent, with Microsoft taking slightly under 4 percent.
On the overall mobile OEM side, Samsung once again took the top spot with 26 percent, followed by LG (19.3 percent), Apple (14 percent) and Motorola (12.8 percent.)
