Audio Products International (API), a speaker manufacturer of several brands, including Energy, Athena and Mirage was just acquired by Klipsch Group, Inc., the parent company of Klipsch Audio Technologies.
Just as the Klipsch Group manages Klipsch and another acquired brand, Jamo, API will operate as a separate company within the group, including the product design and engineering arms of the API. However, Klipsch does maintain that, “the Klipsch, Jamo and API brand teams will work in a cooperative fashion to develop global technology platforms and product strategies that leverage investments in R&D”
This is also a continuing sign of Klipsch continuing a follow a route to becoming a larger company than it was culturally in the past. “This purchase is another step in our strategic plan of adding unique and successful loudspeaker companies to our portfolio of products,” said Fred Klipsch, chairman, Klipsch Group.
