Apple Caught Up to Android in Last Quarter
The strength of the iPhone 4S helped Apple nearly its close the market share gap with Android in the fourth quarter of 2011, according to Nielsen Mobile Insights numbers released Wednesday.
Among "recent smartphone acquirers," Android's market share is 46.9 percent, compared with 44.5 percent for Apple. This is compared to a 61.6 to 25.1 percent gap at the time of the survey in October.
Research in Motion's third place share shrunk to 4.5 percent.
