Apple Launches iPhone 7, Apple Watch Series 2 During Annual Fall Event
Even for just a few hours, the Apple rumor mill could sit at rest while the Cupertino tech giant filled the Billy Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco for its annual Fall event. There, Apple CEO Tim Cook—who was "dropped off" Carpool Karaoke style by James Corden—served in his usual role as emcee for the event, which included several updates and, of course, some major product announcements.
If you’ve been following the rumor mill like we have over the past few months, nothing was really all that surprising. Some of the things we predicted would be touched on were, and some weren’t (you can check out our full “scorecard” at the bottom of this post). All in all, there were no major shockers, but the event still was full of some pretty awesome announcements.
Prior to diving into the new products, Cook briefly talked about some of the new features of Apple Music (which recently hit 17 million subscribers) in iOS 10 as well as updates to the App Store. Here, Apple made its first big reveal: Super Mario is coming to the iPhone. Shigeru Miyamoto, who created the little red plumber, was on hand to talk about Super Mario Run, a new game that very much resembles the classic NES game. No release date was given, but Miyamoto said it would be available in time for the holidays.
