Apple Opens First “Town Square” in Chicago
Last week, Apple rather quietly rolled out another one of the products that it announced during its Fall keynote. The new product wasn’t a new iPhone or a fixed version of the Apple Watch Series 3. In fact, it wasn’t really hardware—in the traditional sense. Rather, it was the new “Town Square” storefront that the company unveiled during the keynote, prior to any specific Apple product announcements.
Apple Michigan Avenue officially opened for business in Chicago on Friday.
Unlike your run-of-the-mill Apple location that you might find in a mall or a center city shopping district, Apple Town Squares are intricately integrated into the community and specifically into the area where the store is located. The Chicago location, for example, is built into steps along the city’s Riverwalk and connects North Michigan Avenue to Pioneer Court and the Chicago River.
