Apple Profit: $7.31 Billion
Apple in the third quarter posted a profit of $7.31 billion, more than doubling the $3.25 billion figure of the same time last year. The company reported huge sales of both the iPad and iPhone, which grew 183 percent and 142 percent, respectively, over last year.
Mac sales also grew 14 percent, while iPod sales declined by 20 percent.
“We’re thrilled to deliver our best quarter ever, with revenue up 82 percent and profits up 125 percent,” Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO, said as part of the announcement. “Right now, we’re very focused and excited about bringing iOS 5 and iCloud to our users this fall.”
