Apple Schedules 'Back to the Mac' Event for October 20
Apple has issued invitations to the media for a special event called 'Back to the Mac' on October 20.
Apple will give a sneak peek of the next major version of Mac OS X, but beyond that, the agenda for the event is unknown. Plans for a touch screen Mac have surfaced over the past several weeks, so speculation is that the new Mac OS could begin to pave the way for multi-touch capability.
Even as netbook and laptop sales have been hurt by Apple's highly popular iPad, Mac sales have actually grown stronger thanks to the so-called 'halo effect.' International Data Corporation has reported that Apple's PC market share has now reached double digits for the first time since the early 1990s.
