Apple Seen Becoming World's Top PC Vendor
Apple will soon overtake HP to become the top PC vendor in the world- provided tablet computers are included in the equation. That's according to a report this week by research firm Canalys.
The firm, which unlike competitors Gartner and IDC includes tablets in its tabulations of worldwide PC sales, predicted that Apple will grab the top spot "before the second half of 2012." Apple took the second spot in the third quarter of this year.
“Apple has seen its PC market share expand from 9% to 15% in just four quarters, though iPad shipments in its core market – the United States – are likely to come under pressure in Q4 due to the launch of the Fire and Nook at extremely competitive price points,” Canalys Analyst Tim Coulling said in a statement.
