Apple, Slingbox Top BusinessWeek’s CE Winners
The biggest winners in consumer electronics for 2007 were no surprise- Apple’s iPods, the Wii and the Slingbox- while the disappearing DVD and their stalemated replacements count as losers. That’s according to Business Week’s list of the Best and Worst Consumer Electronics in 2007, as written by staffer Arik Hesseldahl.
Apple’s iPod brand, perhaps unsurprisingly, was named the top portal music player, with “any company that dared challenge Apple” called losers. However, Microsoft’s relaunched Zune player was positively mentioned as well.
BusinessWeek also had praise for the Wii, SanDisk’s line of storage devices and Sling Media’s Slingbox, which showed big growth that coincided with the company’s purchase by EchoStar.
