Apple Sues iPod Repair Shop Owner
The owner of an iPod repair shop in Michigan has been sued by Apple, which claims that he misused the iPod trademark and also defrauded the company by repairing out-of-warranty iPods with Apple-provided parts.
According to AppleInsider.com, Apple, Inc. sued Nicholas Woodhams, owner of the iPod Mechanic store in Portage, Mich., and the www.ipodmechanic.com Web site, claiming that he reneged on an agreement to stop using the iPod name in 2006, but failed to do so. Woodhams is also accused of defrauding Apple of $75,000 by illegally obtaining component parts and sold brand-new models that had been sent as replacements.
Apple has asked for triple damages, as well as the closure of the site.
