Apple Posts $6.6 Billion Profit
Apple Tuesday reported a fourth quarter profit of $6.62 billion, compared with 4.31 billion the same time last year, as the company sold 17.1 million iPhones, 11.1 million iPads and 4.89 million Macs during the quarter.
The quarter ended Sept. 24, prior to the passing of Steve Jobs and the unveiling and release of the iPhone 4S.
“We are thrilled with the very strong finish of an outstanding fiscal 2011, growing annual revenue to $108 billion and growing earnings to $26 billion,” Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO, said as part of the announcement. “Customer response to iPhone 4S has been fantastic, we have strong momentum going into the holiday season, and we remain really enthusiastic about our product pipeline.”
